Moviebase values and protects your privacy and always uses encryption technology when dealing with sensitive personal and account information.
Moviebase collects your personal information only when you have willingly submitted that information to Moviebase.

My Personal Information
Moviebase classifies personal information as knowledge regarding an individual that facilitates someone to verify and/or contact a person and incorporates some or all of; a person’s full name, residential address, email address, telephone numbers and other forms of identifiable information such as a date of birth or a secret question in combination with financial information, account and rental history.
Below are some types of personal information that we may collect in order for Moviebase to carry out its obligations as a service provider to our members and to ensure we constantly offer the best possible experience for our customers by tailoring the service to their evolving needs.

v Security details – Secret question or drivers licence number
v Your membership information and rental history
v Your account and billing information and history
v Reviews of movies and ratings you’ve given

Moviebase uses encryption technology and staff can never access your password or your full credit card information.
If obligatory by law, or to defend our rights, we may as required release certain personal information.
When does Moviebase collect my Personal Information?
Moviebase collects your personal information only when you have willingly submitted that information to Moviebase. By way of any of the below;
v Applying for a Moviebase Membership
v Actively using your Moviebase membership subscription service
v When you register for ‘Moviepages’ – Our Newsletter
v When you participate in a promotional offer, contest or survey
v When you post a review on a titles ‘Movie Wall’
No personal identifiable information is collected unless you have firstly given Moviebase the permission to do so.
How does Moviebase use my Personal Information?
Your personal information is used for Moviebase to facilitate its internal business objectives. Similar to a video rental store we require certain personal and financial information in order for customers to rent and return titles while maintaining ease of contact between Moviebase and our members.

v Preferences of rentals and page visits to personalise your Moviebase Membership
v To improve and enhance the capabilities of the site and user experience
What Personal Information does Moviebase give to others?
Moviebase utilises third party goods and service providers to carry out various business duties on our behalf. These third parties have no access to your personal information other than that relevant to each purpose or service. E.g. Our credit card merchant needs your information for the requested transaction to fulfill payment terms or verify fraudulent activity; Australia Post needs your delivery information etc.
Any third party marketing undertaken by Moviebase will never divulge information that may reveal your personal identity. Moviebase will never offer or sell your personal information to any other third party without your prior consent. If Moviebase utilises a contracted organisation for business or marketing purposes, all personal information is regarded as confidential and is assured by The Privacy Act and all laws associated.
How does Moviebase protect my Personal Information?
Moviebase takes all reasonable measures to protect any personal information we collect. Integrity and security are paramount in the use of your personal information at all times. Dependant on the nature of the personal information collected, stored or used, Moviebase uses encrypted data - 128 bit encryption Secret Sockets Layering (SSL) for any personal credit card transactions. SSL technology is the industry standard for safe transactions online
Financial Information and credit card details
This information is used to obtain payment for subscription services you have ordered from us. This information is taken through a page certified as secure. You will note that this page has a web address starting “https”, not “http”. The additional “s” denotes its secure status. Such information is automatically encrypted as soon as you confirm it and passes in encrypted form to our contracted merchant service provider who automatically arranges the transfer from your bank account to ours. We store only the encrypted version on our servers, to save you having to re-enter it when you buy from us again. Only encrypted information is retained whilst your account is active, then for a period of 3 months after your membership is cancelled, when it is automatically deleted.
Note: your Internet browser may produce a warning message. This is automatic and does not reflect on the high level of security built into our system.
Will Moviebase contact me?
If you have become a Moviebase Member you may receive contact or deliveries appropriate with your Moviebase Subscription such as Blu ray disc rentals, subscriber information, emails, phone calls or deliveries from Australia Post.
Moviebase may also contact you;
v If fraudulent activity is reported
v If you have issues related to your account or membership
v If you have requested Moviebase to contact you
v If you have cancelled your Moviebase Membership
Posting a movie or title review
Moviebase allows members to post reviews on a title’s Movie Wall and to allow visitors to see these reviews on individual title pages. When posting a review your full name remains anonymous. However, if you disclose personally identifiable information in your review, that information is public information. Please use discretion when disclosing information online.
When posting a review on a title’s Movie Wall your review will also be seen by Moviebase followers both on Facebook and on Twitter. This is posted from Moviebase and no personal information of yours is used except for your first name and last initial. E.g. Sam.B
Search engines (Google, Yahoo etc) and other websites may access information that is posted on moviebase.com.au and provide this information to their users. E.g. If you are searching for a movie review of a certain title on a search engine website, retail review website or a shopping website, you may be presented with the search results containing movie wall reviews from members of moviebase.com.au
Facebook login
Moviebase allows its members to log in to the website via their personal facebook page. Although all of the contact between you and Moviebase is governed by our Privacy Policy, Terms and Conditions and safety procedures, we cannot guarantee any of Facebook’s business policies, please read Facebook’s Privacy Policy and Terms and Conditions or similar for more information.
How can I access, update or change my personal information?
Moviebase Members are able to access their personal information once logged into the service securely by using their user name and password. You can then access the ‘Mybase’ area of the website and change or amend your personal information as required.
Links to other websites
The Moviebase Privacy Policy only applies to the information collected by Moviebase. Any links to another website that is owned and operated by a third party may have different methods of collection in relation to information. Please note that Moviebase is never responsible for third party websites or similar links that are contained on the website. We encourage you to always confirm the Privacy Policies and Terms of Service once you have clicked a link that takes you outside of our website.
Cookies
If you rent or purchase any product online, or have any other interaction with our website, we will receive and store information that you provide or that is generated by your actions. For example, like many websites, we use "cookies," which are placed on your computer (explained in more detail below), to remember your name and the contents of your ‘MyCue’ (your personal list of titles requested). This allows you to leave our site, come back later and still have the contents of your MyCue intact. It also lets us personalise your experience at moviebase.com.au by tailoring the content to your interests. Use of Moviebase by children or under 18’s
Moviebase does not offer memberships to anyone under the age of 18 years. Titles are available for children's viewing but these are only available for rental by members. If you are under 18, you may use Moviebase only with the involvement of a parent or guardian who has an active membership with Moviebase. Please note that the responsibility of which title is requested for anyone less than 18 years of age remains the sole responsibility of the individual Moviebase Member.
Please use the Australian Office of Film and Literature Classification (OFLC) system to best determine the suitability of titles for minors
Government and disclosure to their agencies
Moviebase is subject to the law like everyone else. We may be required to give information to legal authorities if they so request or if they have the proper authorisation such as a search warrant or court order.
Changes to these terms
Whether or not you have viewed our Terms and Conditions of this website, or this Privacy Policy, and whether or not you have chosen to not receive notices from us, those terms and notices will still govern your use of moviebase.com.au.
We may update or change our Terms and Conditions and this Privacy Policy at any time and from time to time, as we determine as appropriate. It is your responsibility to review them for changes.
